Do you keep a dance journal? You should. Keeping a journal is one of the fastest ways to improve. It's one of my New Year's Resolutions to get better about keeping up my journal. I've been avoiding writing in it during my regular classes and just writing it in during workshops or special events. What is a dance journal? It's a place to keep track of your progress and the moves you've been learning. You can use a journal, notebook, sketchbook, onenote, the format doesn't matter as long as you like it and want to write in it. What do I put in my journal? Who or what I am learning from. This could be an instructor, book, DVD, other dancer, YouTube video. If it's hard to locate I'll make sure I bookmark the source in case I need to return to it later.  The Date. I date each practice just for a progress reference. Things I am having trouble with. Things I want to practice later. New moves or moves giving me trouble. Things I felt I made prog

Datura Online Belly Dance Review

I'm sure you've all heard of  Datura Online,  the online school created by Sol Crawford and Rachel Brice. If you haven't, it is a site you'll want to check out. Price: $25 a month. Videos on Tribal, Cabaret, Egyptian, Fusion, Vintage, Yoga, Pilates, and Musicality.  Pros: Fabulous Teachers- Tamalyn Dallal, Rachel Brice, Sadona Soulfire, Henna, Ashley Lopez, Zoey Jakes and others.  High Production- The videos are well lit, with good sound and not a lot of distractions. There are mirrors so you can see how the moves should look from the front.   A ton of great videos. I hate subscribing to things and finding out they only have one or two videos I really enjoyed. There are so many videos on here that I got a ton out of and a lot of worshop kind of classes as well. There are playlists of videos based on the style/level you are interested in.  Each video has a list of the songs used during the video. Has trial videos so you can see if your computer will su
